Salt Point State Park is located off Hwy 1, the world-famous coastal road with endless views of the Pacific Ocean along the California coast. It features two separate campgrounds, one to the east of the highway, Woodside Campground, and another, Gerstle Cove, facing towards the ocean.
From Gerstle Cove, a trail connects to the trail system directly by the ocean for expansive views, depending on the weather. It is not uncommon to experience a range of weather within a few hours, from sun to overcast to foggy/misty and rain.
AllTrails lists roughly a dozen hiking routes at the park.
Gerstle Cove Campground
I stayed at site 20 at Gerstle Cove, with most of the sites shaded, and equipped with fire ring and wooden picnic table, as well as food lockers to keep critters away from scented items. The restrooms are basic, with no shower facilities available. (campground map).
Reservations can be made via ReserveCalifornia.
Supplies
Firewood can be purchased from the camp host at site 29.
Woodside Campground
Located east of Hwy 1, the two Woodside Campground loops provide an additional 79 sites.
