About
Hi, and thanks for stopping by.
My name is Klaus, currently living in Walnut Creek, California, working as a Senior Engineering Manager at Hinge Health, a digital healthcare startup.
Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, I was influenced by American culture at an early age through movies, music, and TV shows.
After graduating from the University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg, I made my way to California via London. I had the pleasure of working at both big and small companies in Silicon Valley. Further details about those engagements can be found on my LinkedIn profile.
It was mostly Calfornia’s plethora of outdoor opportunities that turned me into an enthusiast for sportive activities in nature. Running and cycling soon became my favorite pastimes. My outings on two wheels got longer and more involved with every passing weekend and eventually culminated in my first bike tour. Over six days, I rode from San Francisco to Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast Highway. This adventure got me hooked on this type of travel, experiencing the landscape from a unique perspective and propelling yourself forward under your own power.
A few years later, I took the leap into an even longer journey: cycling solo across the United States. This adventure left such a lasting impression on me that I wanted to share my experience in the form of a book.
A collection of some fortuitous events allowed me to travel to multiple countries around the world, which I used to explore through bikepacking. Posts about these trips can be found in the “Adventures” section of the site.
